Hi,

I'm having trouble upgrading the firmware on a Soekris 4501 from 1.22 to 1.34.

When I try to load the new firmware (to 1.33 or 1.34) in System>Firmware>Upgrade Firmware, I get "The uploaded image file is not for this platform". I have other 4501's running 1.33 without an issue (installed new from a CF card)

All help and guidance appreciated!

What are the names of both the 1.22 and 1.34 firmware files?

Also watch how much RAM you have.  1.3 recommends 64+, many 45xx only have 32.

The 1.34 image is from the m0n0wall site embedded-1.34.img. Sorry, being new to this...where do I find the name of the 1.22 image file thats loaded? I guess it would have been net45xx-1.22.img

I've been able to upgrade to 1.236 using net45xx-1.236.img from http://m0n0.ch/wall/oldversions.php (and this is the last version with the model version in the image name) but still from this I can't upgrade to embedded-1.34.img

As far as I can tell the box has 64MB memory.

Rename embedded-1.34.img to net45xx-1.34.img and try upgrading with the renamed file.

64MB of RAM might not be enough to accomplish the upgrade or remain stable if the upgrade did take.
