Topic: [SOLVED - Not a Bug] Services: Dynamic DNS Server Name  (Read 2065 times)

Hardware: ALIX
m0n0wall Version: 1.8.2b571

Specifying a Server name such as dynupdate.no-ip.com works only once when the Save button is pressed. After that the Server name reverts to no-ip.com instead, which can not be used to update a host with the no-ip.com service.

This is not the case in 1.8.2b568, so we know about when the regression hit.

There haven't been any changes on this service in a long time. I couldn't even find the string "no-ip.com" or anything similar in any source file of m0n0wall.

Lennart I don't think Fred was refering to no-ip.com as one of the listed dynamic DNS servers. Looks like when he specifies a custom server such as dynupdate.no-ip.com, it looks like the string gets parsed down to no-ip.com.

Yes, it is dropping the subdomain for Fred, but not for me.  Both the eariler bets, and 1.8.1 release keep the subdomian.

Even though the subdomain gets truncated on the web page, it doesn't get truncated in the configuration file - unless you hit Save again with it the truncated in the form.

Sorry, but I can't reproduce the problem. The subdomain test of test.no-ip.com doesn't get truncated on my version of 1.8.2b571.

I can't find anything in the source code either that would do any kind of truncating to the server string.

Maybe this is a browser related issue?

Yes, it's browser related. Thanks for suggesting that. Using Chrome 34.0.1847.116m, it truncates for me. Using IE 11, it does not truncate.

Edit: The problem in Chrome was traced to an interaction with the LastPass plugin and solved.
