Hi everyone.

My internet provider has finally graced me with IPv6 access.  For not knowing a lot about it, I've managed to get it working great on my network.  DHCP-PD is enabled and everyone that asks for an IP gets one and can visit IPv6 enabled web sites.

My question is how to I assign a preferred IPv6 DNS server via m0n0?  I've plugged one in to m0n0 on the preferences page.

I see there's a chance to enable the IPv6 DHCP server on the LAN interface.  But then it wants me to define the IPv6 range.  I have no clue what to put there.  I'd rather let the network manage that if possible.

Thanks in advance for your help and time!

If your ISP is providing DHCP-PD you do not need to enable an IPv6 DHCP on the LAN.

You can put an IPv6 DNS server on the System: General setup page or you can assign one or more on your individual machine's IP stacks.

Hi Fred.

Thanks for the reply.  While the systems on my network are getting IP's they're not getting DNS information.  I plugged Google's DNS server into m0n0 and on 1 machine.  But I'd rather have that happen automagically.

Is that possible?

I can't answer positively as some other peculiarities with the current IPv6 implementation in m0n0wall are causing me a problem that makes me not use it until they are solved.

I can't remember the exact behavior I was seeing with IPv6 DNS being assigned to LAN machines or not. But I do remember setting one in m0n0wall, so I think I needed to do that.

I am using 1.8.1.  Would I benefit any from trying the beta builds?

I don't think that any of the 1.8.2 betas have any changes related to IPv6. If that is the case, then upgrading beyond 1.8.1 isn't going to help.
