What the heck is this? Google has 0 results .. most tutorials don't even show this: must be new. Not sure how to use this?

A computer (or firewall or router) needs three things to communicate inter-network.  An IP address, a netmask, and a default gateway.  The title you gave sounds like a complex version of "Gateway" under WAN for us.
