Topic: Bridge three interfaces (OPT1, OPT2, WAN)  (Read 2818 times)

Background: I get public IPs (up to ~15) from my ISPs DHCP. I want to do NAT on one network but receive the public IPs on two other interfaces. I got four interfaces in my monowall box.

What works:
 * Doing NAT WAN<->LAN.
 * Bridged OPT1 to WAN and I receive IP from my ISP DHCP-server on clients connected to OPT1.

What do not work:
 * Add a third interface (OPT2) to the OPT1<->WAN bridge.

Any idea how to resolve this?

Best regards,

You can only bridge one interface to one other interface. i.e. you can't bridge 3 interfaces together.

This is a limitation of the underlying OS used in m0n0wall 1.2 versions. It may no longer be an issue in 1.3, there's a beta available on the site.

If you're really bent on doing it and if 1.3 won't, then you could always chain a pair of monos, bridging opt1 to wan on the first, connect its wan to opt1 of second mono, and use it to bridge opt1 to wan again.

Well, this is just temporary for two months and then I will have static IPs instead so I just have to survive until than, but thanks anyway.

For the sake of the archives, this isn't possible at this time in 1.3 either.
