This is more of an observation than a question, for the record.

I was booting a new soekris net5501 for the first time, this being my first headless boot, and had my terminal settings as laid out in the quick start guide. All looked healthy through the post and part way into the boot when suddenly the output turned into symbols.

I found that by using a bit rate of 9600 instead of the prescribed 19200, the post was now garbled but the latter part of the boot output and the console setup menu were now readable.

It seems that the net5501 is booting at 19200 then switching to 9600. Does this make sense to anyone? Is it a bug in the 5501? Anyway, I thought I might save somebody the head scratching if they happened to have the same experience.

m0n0wall uses 9600, Soekris uses 19200. Before the OS takes over it uses 19200, after it's 9600.

I just change all my Soekris boards to 9600.
