how much CPU would you recommend to run P2P on a 30mbit down 5mbit up connection ( and in the future maybe 50 mbit )

( there would be two computers running P2P through the m0n0wall )

it would be cheapest for me to just build something based on P4 cuz i have the parts but it is very power hungry so im trying to figure out if it would be worth it for me to buy some low-power board or just run with the P4.

thanks in advance.

For a 50/5 connection I would recommend at least a 350 MHz cpu and good-quality nics. If you are willing to spend a little more up front to save power then get something embedded like a via board or soekris. Otherwise a P3 should handle it, assuming good nics.
