today I attempted to use m0n0wall in place of pfsense to try and rule out if my atheros 5212 card doesn't work with bsd

after writing the latest beta generic-pc image I was greeted with this:
Trying to mount root from ufs:/dev/md0

*****************
* FATAL ERROR
* The device that contains the configuration file (config.xml) could not be
* found. m0n0wall cannot continue booting.
*****************

The operating system has halted
Please press any key to reboot

any ideas? cmb?  anyone?

you need to set your HD/CF to CHS in the BIOS.

yeah I found that after searching, but fun thing is my bios only supports two modes "compatibility" and some faster mode.

Not sure what to tell you, haven't run into this problem on a system that didn't allow setting to CHS. If you find a solution, post back and let us know for future users that may have the same problem.

I had the exact same error, but mine was a bad CF card. I tried another CF card and it booted fine.
