dear all

after booting to m0n0wall succes but i have trouble why i cant connect to other computer?how assign network port?

# wait for the console menu to appear, select 1. (assign network ports)
# assign functions (LAN/WAN/OPT) to your interfaces (hint: use auto-detection, or let the MAC addresses tell you which card is which one)

i can't understand?

I'm having the same problem but more or less with the Soekris net5501, for some odd reason when I try and assgn the nics this happens:
1) Interfaces: assign network ports
Enter a number: 1

Valid interfaces are:

Do you want to set up VLANs first?
If you're not going to use VLANs, or only for optional interfaces, you
should say no here and use the webGUI to configure VLANs later, if required.

Do you want to set up VLANs now? (y/n) n

If you notice, the list with Valid interfaces are empty, if if i plug in the network cables between LAN -> WAN, and when i try this:

If you don't know the names of your interfaces, you may choose to use
auto-detection. In that case, disconnect all interfaces before you begin,
and reconnect each one when prompted to do so.

Enter the LAN interface name or 'a' for auto-detection: a

Connect the LAN interface now and make sure that the link is up.
Then press ENTER to continue.

No link-up detected.

I suspect you did not use the "generic-pc" (either 1.231 or 1.3B4 will work) image.

The net5501 ethernet controllers are different from previous Soekris boxes.

Since yesterday I have an alix2c3 (http://www.pcengines.ch/alix2c3.htm).  Cool

I tried to setup my board with the wrap image and got the same problem as written above. Do I also have to use the generic-pc image?  Huh I thought that the alix boards are the new generation of the wrap boards.

Thanks for answers!

Just to show what the serial console tells me:
Code:
Enter a number: 1

Valid interfaces are:

Do you want to set up VLANs first?

My fault. I downloaded both versions (1.2 and 1.3) and copied the wrong one on my CF card.  Embarrassed Lips sealed Now it's working fine. Thanks!
