Installation

fyi, i dloaded the current stable PC image, burned to CD, it does not work. I tried many things, got errors writing to the floppy, it would not hold a config.  example:

fopen(/cf/conf/config.xml): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /etc/inc/config.inc on line 577

I woudl configit each time, but in reboot it never remembered any configs.

So i finally found the beta, and it worked first time.

also, i got the beta working, but even with all my rules set to pass all packets, it still denied some ( i know, i read teh faq). could not get emule to work through it,and it is too hard to track down the problem. switching to pfsense.

anyway, thanks for the great software! it really is nice, better than ipcop, and i wish i could use it. Otherwise it is a slick, likable interface.

honestly, the install to HD process is a deal killer too.

Stupid question : Did you burn the ISO on your CD ? Or the IMG file ?

Installing to an HD is not tricky at all : http://forum.m0n0.ch/index.php/topic,1252.0.html.

pFsense is good, i gave it a test run, but it takes ages to startup and i could not get the "official" embededd image to work...... I used the hacom images.

Anyway everyone should use what best fits his needs !
