Hello guys great program here and I am just new to it. Anyways my question is I have the latest version of mOnOwall and I have a switch hooked up from my computer based monowall firewall and then from the switch want my wireless router to work as well but it does not The switch works but not the router why is this?
Cable Modem -> mOnOwall firewall PC -> to a temorpary 8 port Linksys Hub -> direct connection to computer it works fine and as it should.
But as soon as I put in the router and then connect VIA the router wireless or wired it doesnt work at all. Any ideas? Also is it possible to monitor what everyone that is connected is doing? Ex. If I see someone where they are not supposed to be can I kick them off or keep a log or something so I can ban them or something like that? Also is it possible to keep a log of who which MAC address has downloaded how much, what sites they have been to and what not? Also forgot to mention when I was setting up the program I choose to disable the VLAN. I do not think I need it but I am not very sure.

 All help is appreciated.

without knowing more about your setup, my guess is you are connecting your wireless router via its WAN port and its LAN port is set to use the same IP subnet as your m0n0wall.  If that is the case, disable the DHCP on your wireless router and set its LAN IP to an unused address on your m0n0wall's LAN subnet.  now connect your wireless router to your switch via one of its LAN ports (the WAN port remains unused!)

First off thanks for taking the time to reply.
I plug the wire from the switch into the WAN port on the router.  But one question how do I disable my DCHP on my router? I can not find that option.
BTW it is a WRT54GX2 from Linksys.  Thanks for the help.

Ok I disabled the DCHP on the router and it works when the connection from the router to the computer is wired but not wireless.
Also I have not yet changed the router's Local IP Adress or it's Subnet. What should I change it to?
The monowalls ip address is 192.168.1.1 and the subnet is /24 or 255.255.255.0
Thanks for the help guys.
I took a screen shot of the routers web management page and this is the default settings I guess if you can just point out which I need to change and to what it would be the easiest way.

The ones I changed were the Local Ip Adress to 192.168.1.2 and the Subnet to 255.255.255. 128
What else do I need to change to get the wireless working? Thanks for the help.
BTW it is a WEP 64 bit 10 hex digits protected wireless and also the router is a Linksys WRT54GX2 if that helps.

First off, the best place to get your passwords is here:  https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm
I normally use the bottom one for best compatability.

Also, DON'T use WEP unless WPA is not a choice!  WEP can be broken in a very short time!  Another real good thing to do is make sure your Linksys router is running the latest firmware!

I would set your linksys wireless router to 192.168.1.3 /24 (255.255.255.0).  That leaves .2 for a second m0n0wall if you ever add another ISP for backup.  Also, add a "wap1" alias to your m0n0wall and set it to 192.168.1.3.  This will serve as a database to remind you of your static addresses and can also be used for rules in the future.

BTW - you should really pick a different subnet than .1 for your network.  Just make sure you have the same subnet and subnet mask on your linksys as you do on your m0n0wall.

Thanks soooo much buddy I owe you one. That adding the WAP1 to the alias solved the problem. Cant thank you enough man!
now just my last question. I can't try this out until another month but I am gonna be hooking up about 6 more routers or wireless Access Points how do you suggest I go about doing that?
EX. Set router/ap address to 192.168.1.3 and the second one to 192.168.1.4 and the third to 192.168.1.5 and so on and then I assume that I have to add each one of them to the alias list as well?
Also another small little question, Say comcast provides me with a firewall should I unplug theirs and hook up my monowall PC box or should I just have the comcast firewall forward it to the monowall box? I was thinking of not even getting the comcast firewall but I have to check what their policy is on that first. Oh and the reason why I am using WEP over WPA is everytime I use WPA I have to restart the wireless router after using it for about 6 hours straight and what not, but when I use WEP I can use it 6 hours straight doing the same thing and not have to reset it. Maybe you have any suggestion for me on that?   Also I can't thank you enough on helping me out buddy I owe you one.

make sure your Linksys router is running the latest firmware and your wireless card is using the latest drivers/firmware and give WPA anoter try.

adding an alias could not have fixed your problem.

.4, .5, .6, ... would be fine.
