Topic: Monowall bridge to Cisco Router?  (Read 1109 times)

I have a monowall router with three interfaces (wan, lan opt1).  My ISP handoff is fastethernet and I have a static IP (/30) on my WAN interface.  I also have a /29 block of static public IPs (5) from my ISP.

I'd like to put a Cisco router on the opt1 interface, assign it one of the public IPs and basically configure it as if it were directly on the WAN.  Can anyone give me any clues as to how to do this?

My first thought was to bridge the WAN to OPT1 but I don't think that will work.

The next thought was to use a private /30 network between mono and the cisco, assign the public ip as a secondary address on the wan side of the cisco and setup a static route from the WAN i/f for the public interface to the private /30 network. Will something like this work?  Do I need to add firewall rules?

Thanks.  -- Bud

I don't know for sure but I think you should be able to assign your /30 address to the WAN and your /29 block to the Opt1 interface.  Also, I think you will need to enable advanced outbound NAT and add a rule for you LAN interface.  Hopefully someone who actually knows how to do this will chime in.   Smiley
