Hi
I use M0n0wall for all our company branches . All m0n0 work properly. But now I came to UK to install new m0n0 for new branch. I stuck in ISP problem.
The new branch use 3 Com router that came from ISP (Custard IT).
I changed the 3 Com to DLink DSL 320T with m0n0wall.
I use notebook to setup the device after I fill the PPPoA username and password.
My notebook got a ip address from ISP then I unplug the ethernet cable to M0n0 wan port. It works properly but after reboot the D-Link DSL 320T . The M0n0 cann't connect to internet. I use notebook to setup again. The same situation happen again.

Do anyone have any experience with setup m0n0 in UK and  custard IT(ISP) ?

please please give me advise .. what kind of device that you've implemented .

By the way, we have 8 mb broadband, but we only got 330K. They said ,the bandwidth in uk is not guarantee . Is it true ?

Thanks

Scott

Where does the authentication go? In the Monowall or in the Dlink Modem?  How is the WAN setup in mono? DHCP, Static or PPPoE?

Hi Markb
Thank you for your replay
I setup the authentication in D-Link. I use PPPoA to connect to ISP then I use D-Link ehternet port to connect to m0n0 wan. The D-Link default LAN IP is 192.168.1.2
I setup Mono wan to DHCP then It gets a Public IP somethings like 80.145.11.32
but It won't work . I have to change it to static IP then It works.
so I need to do these after the D-Link reboot.
I found a interest things.
When It connects to internet. I tracert route the www.yahoo.com
It goes to 192.168.8.2(My laptop IP)-->192.168.8.254(M0N0 Lan IP)-->192.168.1.1(D-Link Lan IP)-->ISP gateway.
so I think the problem is when I setup the mono wan interface to DHCP it gets a default gateway 192.168.1.1 then I change it to static IP . It still has 192.168.1.1 gateway setting on it.

Thanks
Scott

Have you had good experiences with the Dlink before.  I have always been suspicious of devices that say they pass the external IP through.  Although not with a Dlink, I have had a router that I set to pass the internet Ip address through which I was using with monowall.  When I looked at the status page (hhtp://<mono ip>/status.php it had the ip address, but not a gateway.  I can recommend the Draytek Vigor 100 though.  It is basically a dsl modem that does  PPPoE - PPPoA conversion.  I use one of these with Monowall connecting via PPPoE.  Offically I believe that only PPPoA is supported by most ISP's in the UK.  Often PPPoE via a DSL router in Bridge mode will work, but my ISP changed and stopped PPPoE altogether, the Vigor 100 is sweet and simple, just plugged it in and away it went.
