The only thing I know of CF-cards use as hard-drives is that they dont last as many writes.
So, how does it work with M0n0wall?

Does it not write any logs, keeping all in memory?
Does it write like once a day or so?
Does it never write, unless you press some save-button somewhere?

The configuration file is stored there, but that's all.

Ok, sounds like the best solution, as long as there is the ability to save logs/settings at your own will.
