I think I read somewhere M0n0wall supports dot1q VLAN-trunking, but maybe it doesn't?
Cant find any info on it in handbook, only some strange PPTP way of simulating VLAN's, but it doesn't seem very smooth and I doubdt that way is compatible routing VLAN's setup on a switch connected to a router-interface.

Can anyone help me out a bit here with more info?

Thanks Smiley

EDIT: Found the below now, by mistake when searching for something else.
Sadly I dont have a clue what kind of drivers/chips/whatever are in the NIC's on my ALIX 2c1. Some VIA NIC's anyway. Would be fun if one of the recommended hardwareplatforms doesn't support one of the cooler features Sad
http://www.pcengines.ch/alix2c1.htm

"VLAN tagging
The following drivers/NICs either support VLAN tagging in hardware or handle long frames properly. All other drivers/NICs use software emulation that causes a reduced MTU (which may lead to problems).

    * hardware support: bge, em, gx, ixgb*, msk*, nge, re*, stge*, ti, txp, vge*
    * long frame support: bfe*, dc, fxp, gem*, hme*, le*, rl*, sis, sk*, ste, tx, xl "

EDIT: Looking at ethernet drivers/cards at FreeBSD for release 6.3 and 7.0, but none of them has VT6105M which seems to be on the ALIX so I dont have a clue :s

VLAN support should work fine on ALIX boards with 1.3b11; in fact, a fix was added back in 1.3b5 for VLAN support on chips that use the vr driver.

Nice to hear, thanks Smiley
So then I dont mess around with that P2PT server-stuff?
I just configure it on my switch and it will show up as interfaces or something in M0n0 or how does THAT work? I dont follow at all on the handbooks examples with P2PT stuff, I think that is some other cheating way to get VLAN's....

I just wanna be able to create them in my switch, and then route/firewall between them in M0n0wall with the VLAN trunking....as the Cisco-term "router on a stick".

Thanks for you answer(s) Smiley
