Hello,

I have a fairly complex question, and if you guys know how to do this please help me out.  I am just going to show how my network is setup first to give you an understanding.  I have a modem > switch > monowall > switch > to me.  Off of this switch running off of the monowall, there are 3 more large managed switches, 1 access point, and 7 routers set as access points.  The DHCP server is setup on the monowall.  What I want to do is control every switch, router, and wap through monowall, or if that isn't possible I still need to get into the equipment without the DHCP overriding their ips.

See here is the problem.  Lets say my switch has an ip of 172.168.0.10.  When I type that into a browser, nothing comes up.  This is because the DHCP server doesn't allow it.  I thought there was an easy fix to this by going into the DHCP server settings in the monowall and just giving a lease for its mac address and ip.  This has only worked for the 1 acess point.  I have tried it with a managed switch, and a router set as an access point and it didn't work with either one.   Am I missing something?  Any suggestions?

Thanks

(the router I am using as an access point is a Linksys WRT54G, all internet connections on all the equipment work fine, I just can't access their settings.)

Have I understood correctly, you have devices such as a switch on a DHCP network with it's own IP on a different subnet? If so it has nothing to do with DHCP rather your understanding of TCP/IP.  If for instance your Mono box is giving IP addresses in a 192.168.10.x/24 range, and your switch has a 172.168.0.10 ip address with a 24bit subnet mask, the only way you can talk to the switch is from a device on the same subnet.  This is how IP works.  You are essentially trying to to have 2 networks with 1 set of hardware.  Have a look at VLans.

Actually no, I have the subnet set as the same as the monowall.  This is why I am so confused.
