I tried finding a "hardware this can be installed on" list, but had little luck. It said to see chapter 2 in chapter 1, but I couldn't find anything like that in chapter 2.

Background info and what I'm trying to do (excuse my terminology--still learning):

I have two of these hotbrick 400/2 serving my apartment/vacation rental complex. They basically take the DSL and pass it to a couple of office computers. Then they also each feed a cisco ap1200 or something like that (not sure if the number's right). They're on opposite ends of the complex to help feed the whole area (metal siding on the buildings kills wireless).

The hotbricks don't keep the pppoe connection right, so I end up using the modems my internet provider provides for the actual routing. So the hotbricks are glorified switches to me. They may also route, but the modems hold the connection. I'm not completely sure. Pretty sad, huh?

I really want to be able to offer basic internet to my clients. Most of them are in the lower income range and I feel that I'm providing them with a good service. I have 768k connections (which is the fastest dsl I can get here--yeah it stinks). I could have up to 25 people on a connection, but I don't think I ever have near that--probably often have 5-10 computers on at once (in the evenings).

The problem is that there's always a person or two who decides to download the whole internet and that eats up the already limited bandwidth for everyone else.  So I'd like to be able to QOS (I think?) so that two things happen: 1. give general web browsing the highest preference, 2 give everyone as equal service as possible.

I really like about my hotbrick that I can add another internet connection later, but I think I shouldn't have bought obsolete technology even if it was cheap... Smiley

Thanks for any help you can give me!
