Topic: IPv6 enabled on WAN, but not on LAN  (Read 1381 times)

Today I tried to get IPv6 support for hosts on my DMZ, but it dosn't work until I configure a static IPv6 adress on the LAN interface. Trying to ping with the webinterface tool and exec.php always failes:

Code:
ping6: sendmsg: Network is unreachable
PING6(56=40+8+8 bytes) ::1 --> ::1
ping6: wrote ::1 16 chars, ret=-1

So do I have to configure a IPv6 adress, even if I don't use/need it, on the LAN interface or is this a bug?

Monowall version used is 1.3b15 on a soekris 48xx board. IPv6 on WAN interface is configured as heartbeat with SixXS.

You need to configure an IPv6 address on the LAN interface, even if you don't use it (disable RA if you don't want clients on LAN to obtain an address automatically) - due to the way m0n0wall was initially designed, various pieces of code assume that there is always an IP address configured on LAN, and the same applies to IPv6.

I've added a note that explains this on the System: Advanced page (now in the repository), so hopefully this will be more clear in the next version.
