Hi,
I have just set up my M0n0wall box.
I have a router which acts as a 4 port switch and sets up the network's DHCP.
I have set up my m0n0wall box (Alix 2c3) in my network between the PC and the router but I am having trouble connecting to the internet through it.

How do I set up the monowall as the default gateway on my network? My router does not seem to have this option.

thanks

If all you are using the router for is to provide DHCP to the LAN, consider replacing it with a cheap switch and let m0n0wall provide the DHCP service.

Its a Belkin N Wireless Router, so at the moment it does everything, not just DHCP.

The problem I am having it getting the internet to the PC behind the firewall.

thanks again

set your belkin router's LAN IP to an unused address that is on the same subnet as your m0n0wall (like 192.168.1.3)

disable your belkin's DHCP server.

don't use the WAN port on your belkin router.

I guess I will need a new adsl modem too.

So it is not possible to use m0n0 as an inside firewall as shown below? (taken from the debian firewall tutorial)

I realise it would be easier to just put up sofware firewalls within the internal network, but in theory ....

I just set the WAN to DHCP and the rest all fell into place.
