I've recently installed m0n0wall and its working for the most part.  I have a small home network for 3 computers. My housemate and I are both trying use the same external ports.

In the NAT rules, I get this error message. "The external port range overlaps with an existing entry" when I try to save it for both machines.

A simple work around would be wonderful, but if anyone could define this problem so I can research it, that would be great too.

Kind regards,
Carrie

This can't be done. It's ambiguous.

What is ambiguous? The question or the problem?  Is more information required?

The outcome is possible since, as with this case where it is to play the same online game, an entire room of computers can be all playing at the same time.  I'm just after a point in the right direction on this one.

The problem is that with NAT, you can only have one instance of a port being redirected per external IP address.  Otherwise, how would the router know which PC is the recipient of an incoming packet.  Thus it is ambiguous. It works in a room of PCs because they all have unique IP addresses and can be talked to individually.  On your home network, you only have one external IP address that is on your router.  The only way around this, it for your ISP to provide you with more than one IP address and use Proxy ARP services in Monowall.
