I've just got monowall setup on an older thinclient. It is working fine, but the time seems off. The logs show a time that is off by 18 hours and 30 minutes. I'm using the NTP client (I have a GPS time server on the same subnet) and I think I've set my time zone correctly (USA, west coast, Pacific Time). There are a lot of timezones to choose from in the pulldown. It doesn't seem to be updating the time at all. Can anyone help? Is there a better way to tell the current time in monowall besides looking at the latest log entry?

Thanks!

Boot the computer into its BIOS and have a look at the time setting there.

I seem to recall that m0nowall expects the BIOS clock to be set to UTC time, not your local time. Try changing it to UTC time and see if that solves it.

That did it. Thank you very much. Now, is there any screen that tells me the current time besides looking at the latest log entry?

Thank you. Are there other 'hidden' screens? I know I could RTFM, but I haven't had time to digest it all yet!

Just do what I did, throw the bandwidth graph up on the background. Shows you how busy your network is and the time updates as well.  Grin

There is also the /exec.php page. But you have to know what to exec.

Hello

I have also got a little problem with the time on my m0n0wall.

When I go to http://monowall ip/status.php I can see a time which is wrong.

But when I go to the bandwidth graph I can see a time which is perfectly right.

I also work with captive portal an voucher. And sometimes the vouchers expire to early.

Can anyone help me?

Thank you very much

Make sure that the hardware bios clock is set to current GMT, not your local zone. That solved all time problems for me. Also make sure that you've selected the correct timezone on system:general setup (if you're using a time server, which you should be). I used 'PST8PDT' (US pacific time), but there is also an 'America/Los Angeles' setting, as well as 'etc/GMT-8'. Needless to say, this is confusing. The setting I choose led me to believe that daylight savings would be recognized, and it indeed is.
