one of our soekris net5501's with monowall v1.3b15 is locking up every 30-60 minutes.  after a reboot (unplug, replug) it works normal again for another 30-60 minutes.  in the system log of monowall i see two suspicious entries:

kernel: interrupt storm detected on "irq11:"; throttling interrupt source
kernel: interrupt storm detected on "irq5:"; throttling interrupt source

to me this indicates some sort of hardware issue, but i cannot say with certainty.  i'd appreciate any tips on what to do at this point.  i'm tempted to send the device back to soekris now, but i'd like to rule out the possibility of it being a software problem. anyone?

thanks in advance.

did you add any hardware or is it a plain net5501?

no hardware added.  just a factory built net5501-60.

what does "Diagnostics: Firewall states" look like?  Also, I think you might be right about having a hardware problem.

When monitoring the behavior of the net5501 with an open serial session, I got this message after a few hours of Monowall running in idle (no WAN connection, only a serial session and a local PC hooked up on the LAN port):

I would try a new CF card before calling it a Soekris problem.

i've put in a different CF card and restored the monowall configuration.  i'll wait 24 hours and report what happens.  thanks for your help.

That's good news.  of all my Soekris boxes (around 12) I have only had to send one back to repair a cold boot problem.
