My monowall setup was working fine but suddenly the following syslog messages appeared:

dhcpd: commit_leases: unable to commit: No space left on device

I had to reboot the system.

What's the meaning of that message and how do I get rid of that?

Thanks

Ralf

DHCP has run out a virtual disk space to contain the DHCP leases.

How big is your DHCP range?

The DHCP range is defined as: 172.16.0.2 - 172.16.1.254 /23

After the first appearence of the problem I chanced the default lease time parameters of the DHCP server to lower values and up to now everything is working fine.

Can that pb also be solved by using a larger RAMDISK size?

Thanks

Ralf

512 address lease shouldn't be enough to fill up the disk space, but just to ask, how much RAM does your system have ?

The system has 512 MB RAM.
Tough to say, I have a system with only 128 MB of RAM and it's already got over that many lease files in it right now and has been like this for years. The only thing that would come to mind is it can't write to the RAM disk for some reason.

Is all the RAM one stick or separated out?
