Hi there,

My ISP (xs4all) uses PPPoA, Encapsulation=vcmux and VPI/VCI=8/48 and comes with the Fritz!Box 7170 as you can understand this is not an option.

As M0n0wall understandably doesn't support PPPoA, I use the new Draytek Vigor 120 (annex A) in PPPoA/PPPoE bridged mode to connect. It all goes well for about 2 hours then the connection drops and it takes about a minute to recover.

All help is appreciated.

After some research I came to the conclusion that it had nothing to do with M0n0wall. But with the ADSL modem. As M0n0wall is not a modem this solution might be usefull if you have a provider that uses PPPoA and you wanne use M0n0wall as a router/firewall. In that case you'll need a PPPoE/PPPoA bridging modem and Draytek provides one.

In telecommunications, ITU G.992.1 (better known as G.DMT) is an ITU standard for ADSL using discrete multitone modulation. G.DMT full-rate ADSL expands the usable bandwidth of existing copper telephone lines, delivering high-speed data communications at rates up to 12 Mbit/s downstream and 1.3 Mbit/s upstream.

The solution is changing the modulation in the bridging modem manually (do no use AUTO) to G.DMT, that is if you have an ANNEX A and lite (<8mb) connection .
