Hi

Looked thought NAT and Traffic Shaping forums, found some info but still not sure if my config is possible and how to do it, would appreciate any help as I'm not experienced with networks.

What I want to do is this:

                                                                                     /-LAN1PC1
                                                                                    /- LAN1PC2
                                                                                   /-- LAN1PC3
                                                              -----Switch---/
                                                            /
                                                           /
Internet----Cable Modem----Monowall
                                                           \
                                                            \
                                                              -----Wireless AP(router?)---
                                                                                                        \--LAN2PC1
                                                                                                         \-LAN2PC2
                                                                                                          \LAN2PC3

Ok so my story is: I have 10mbit cable connection with virgin media, I want to have on it two separate networks, not able to see each other plus i want those networks to have % of connection assigned to them.

LAN1 (wired) 90% LAN2 (wireless) 10%, I want it to stay like that, LAN2 should never have more than 10% of bandwidth.

Questions:

1) Can monowall deal with two separate networks with DHCP? I understand I need 3 network cards inside monowall pc, one to cable modem one for lan1 and one for lan2.

2) Or should I have monowall to deal with LAN1 and then AP with Router Deal with LAN2? In this case how to do it ? Just leave AP to do DHCP as it is now and then plug it into monowall to the third network card? How to set monowall to do those things ?

3) Is it possible to have those networks share download 90/10 but have upload shaped between them as normal?

My AP is Buffalo WHR-G54S, as I don't have pc to put monowall on yet i just want to know if something like this is possible or should i think of something else.

Thanks

Ok,

Got hold of spare PC, have mono up and running, LAN1 and OPT1 setup, LAN1 with AP working. Maybe someone could point me in the right direction how to set up pipes/rules etc ?

The best reading on setting up the traffic shaper would be here Clicky
For your scenario, I think that there are 2 ways to go.  Either 2 pipes (One coming in and one going out) add the appropriately weighted queues for your 10/90 split, then add the rules for the networks accordingly.  This will give dynamic bandwidth though that will run full speed on both networks when there is no contention but will give up to 90% to your LAN if required but still guaranteeing the 10% for the wireless.  The other way is to set up 2 sets of pipes, one set with 90% of your bandwidth and the other with 10% and then set up queues and rules as appropriate.  This will actually limit the available bandwidth for the networks as opposed to just prioritising it.
