Hey folks,

I've been using m0n0wall for a couple of weeks now - free cafe hotspot with voucher setup, which is great, since I don't need a dedicated Radius server to filter out leeching neighbors. I have a question though - in the Traffic Graph page, I can choose to monitor either the WAN or LAN interface. I understand the logic behind the WAN interface, "Out" is uploading, "In" is downloading. Why is LAN completely the opposite?

Because (assuming you're only using WAN and LAN interfaces), every packet that goes "out" on the WAN interface will have first come "in" on the LAN interface (from m0n0wall's point of view).

I understand now, thanks. The point of view was what mislead me in the first place.

In any case, keep up the good work, m0n0wall is just great and I've learned to like it even more in the process of using it Smiley
