Hi all,

another newbie question
Can the multiple WAN IP addresses be assigned to the firewall?
And can the different public IP addresses be used in the firewall port forwarding?

- thx

Yes it can, it depends on what you are trying to achieve as the best way to do this.  If you can give some more information regarding what you are wanting to achieve, we can give advice on what way is best suited for you.

NB. The advanced outbound NAT route is probably the most complicated way, there may be a simpler way depending on what you require.

markb,

I would love to hear about the simpler way. I have a connection with 5 static public IP addresses but cannot get them to work only the 1 IP assigned to the WAN interface works as expected.

Any support appreciated.

Using the Proxy ARP function, you can get the WAN interface to give replies for different IP addresses. I stand to be corrected here. but I believe that if you just need to route incoming traffic you want to set the proxy arp and then add a server NAT.  If you want the outbound traffic from your server to be on that external IP address you would use the 1:1 NAT function.  When defining the 1:1 NAT it can automatically add the Proxy ARP entry for you.

Obviously all the relevant rules need to be in place as well.

I prefer the ARP way as all external IPs stay on the WAN, you are not restricted to the number of devices in the DMZ and it is easy to change the destination of the traffic if you want to change which box the traffic is routed to.

Hope this helps.
