Hi,
for some years m0n0 ran beautifully in our small (5 server) environment, non-stop on Generic PC. Then, for a long time we got intermittent hangs, sometimes weekly, sometimes daily! Hang would totally freeze m0n0wall. Console would not respond to menu number entry, and the only option was to power off & on.
We swapped hardware completely - no difference.
Then a week ago, I configured remote syslog so if it happened again we might see some details. Since then it has not hung at all! It seems that adding remote syslog config has fixed the problem. Could this be true?
Can the log "fill up" and freeze m0n0 if remote syslog isn't configured? Does remote syslog make any difference to the local m0n0 machine?
