I used the GUI to try to upgrade from 1.3b16 to 1.3b18 but nothing seems to happen. m0n0wall looks like it is going to install the update and then reboots but no actual upgrade. I have tried in IE and Chrome, no difference. I have tried to update from two different computers also.

I'm having the exact same problem going from b16 to b18.  The md5 of my firmware image is correct.  I tried from Safari, too, just to be different than the OP.  I'm upgrading a PC Engines WRAP with a 32MB CF card.  I've had no problems in the past with firmware upgrades.

I just tried b17, too, with the same result.   Cry

Could you monitor the output on the serial console while you attempt the upgrade? Perhaps there's a kernel error message that might help us narrow down the cause.

Doh, now I have to find a serial cable.  =)  I'll give it a shot (soon-ish?) and let you know.

Any news about this issue?

I never got around to hooking up a serial cable.  I still haven't been able to upgrade, but I'm not too worried about it since I'm up and running.

Try disabling everything unnecessary in the bios.

Unfortunately I don't really have that luxury.  I'm on a PC Engines WRAP 1e203.

I'm having the same problem going from 1.3b18 to 1.3 on an Alix. After I start the upgrade, there's a several second pause on the serial console and then:

Firmware upgrade in progress...
Done - rebooting system...

appears with no apparent delay between the 2 lines. After that the system closes down and reboots normally. The only odd message is:

pnpbios: Bad PnP BIOS data checksum

which I get on every boot.

Steve.

This sounds very similar to the issues i'm experience trying to update from 1.3b15.

You can see my comments on this post and it would be interesting to know if you see similar results with the memory usage spiking to 99%

How much RAM does the device have as I am unfamiliar with the particular one you are referring to.

The WRAP 1e203 has 128MB. My Alix has 256MB.

I just tried it with a CF card and the generic-pc image. It seemed to start the update, said it would reboot when done, but I ended up with nothing on the CF card. I had to pull it out and redo it from a PC, installing the 1.236 version. I know I have plenty of RAM and the CF card is a 1Gb.
