Is it possible to have hostnames (aka DNS entries) defined on a m0n0wall FW, or does the name service have to sit on an additional box?

I would like to carry on using DNS entries for printers and NAS equipment, moving off of my Linux based FW...

Yes, just configure them on the DNS forwarder page
