Hi all,

Can someone tell me if i need two or three nic's for this setup? http://doc.m0n0.ch/handbook/examples-filtered-bridge.html

I just want to have the m0n0wall in front of my servers at a colocation facility. I dont need LAN there.

Thanks,
Michael

Three. You have to have a LAN, and it can't be bridged. After you get into the webGUI initially to start the configuration, you could create a fake VLAN and assign that as your LAN interface once you've opened up the WAN appropriately for webGUI access on its IP. In that case, you should be able to get by with 2. The system that document was written about (I wrote that) has 3 interfaces, and I've never tried 2, but it should work as I described.

I know this is an old post but I'm hoping cmb still gets email notifications.

In your example you created, what is the default router of the two servers at the bottom. Is it 111.111.111.9 or .10

I asked a question about VMware where I am trying to bridge my WAN with my OPT1 (where WAN is a private network) and I am having zero luck. On the private network I want to be able to swap machines from the WAN to the bridged OPT1 so testing can be done with a filter inbetween. And the main part is that when the machines gets moved from WAN to OPT1 they DO NOT need any ipconfig done, plug and play hopefully.
