Hi,

My ISP has the nasty habit of patching their routers to send on the PPPoED protocol, PADI (Active Discovery Initiation) packet, the tag "Relay-Session-Id" with it's own router MAC on it.
While I have option of spoffing the MAC, how can I force the PPPoE client to send that tag (Relay-Session-Id)?

Any suggestion? Thanks in advance.

Edit: Just to add that on that tag of 10 bytes, the first 4 are all zeros and the last 6 is the mac address of the equipment.

Edit2: I've noticed that that extra tag, is also sent on the PADR packet, so probably is required on both.

I'm not sure if this was the proper place to post the above or not,
but after two weeks I'm wondering if the situation has been properly
explained, if at all.

If m0n0wall can't emulate the slight "variation" on the protocol that
my ISP requires, their PPPOE servers won't provide any IP to the client.

Would help If I provided some network dump of the packets or
something else? I just don't know if there wasn't a reply because:
1) moderators or regular users are simply busy,
2) I didn't provide enough info or didn't make any sense,
3) This is a small corner case, and won't be handled ever,
4) This was the wrong place to ask or there is better channels to do it.
5) Something else Smiley

A possible (and overkill) workaround would be to add a dedicated
linux box in the middle just to use the pppoe-relay package, but I
was looking for some solution within m0n0wall.

Thank you for any tip.

PPPoE Relay is probably not well known by most unless they are well versed with Linux. From reading through the m0n0 document, it doesn't look hopefull for you. Google brings back no links specific to m0n0.
