Hellow,

I have installed m0n0wall on a P4 1,2Mhz pc with 2 NIC's.

When i am connected to the monowall server on the captive portal internet turnes really slow.

I checked the ping time and it was 548ms.

And normal with my home connection it is only 26ms

What can i change (setting's or hardware) to solve this?

Thanx in advance.

Maikel

Hello Maikel,
You need to provide more information about your network configuration.
Are You connecting to the interface that has captive portal enabled using a wireless connection?
What are You pinging?
Even 26ms latency from LAN client to the LAN m0n0 gateway for example using only one direct ethernet cable on short distances is a lot.

Hello,

This is my current setup:

(cable)Modem---->Router (with wireless)------hardwire-->M0n0wall server---->AP G-band (engenius 3220)

Pinging with www.speedtest.net to nearest server

When connected wireless to router ping time 26ms

When connected wireless with same laptop to the AP ping time to same server 518+ ms
Tried different servers to check. Varries from 300 to 4000 ms and a whole lot of jitter.

With the diagnostics on m0n0wall server ping test to www.google.com 10 pings ms from 60 to 800ms

In the router i have set everything to pass to the monowall server IP/MAC ....firewall....ports...etc.

I am not a IT guru so any help would be welcome.
I have made a nice login page tough  Grin

Thanx

Try connecting to the AP from a very very short distance ~1m and check if the problem persists.
Try disconnecting the AP and connect to m0n0 using only ethernet cable ans check if the problem persists.
Post results back here.

Hoi,

I have to go away for two weeks so i wont be able to test the M0n0.
After setting up the M0n0 and AP's at our campsite in the czech replublic i shall test the system there.

If the problem still accur's there (ADSL line) i shall make another post.

Realy thanx for your support untill now
