Hi,

I  have  successfully  implemented  an  Embedded  Monowall  system  on  a  ALIX2D3 board.
I  would  like  to  know  how  can  I  test  monowall  to  see  the  effectiveness  of  the  system ?

For  example,  let's  assume  that  Monowall  is  protecting  my  internal  network.
Is  there  a  way  to  visually  see  if  monowall  has  blocked  malicious  users  from
accessing  my  network  or  anything  in  those  terms  ?

Find an online security scanning service.

http://nmap-online.com/

Is a good start.

Hi,
can somebody explain little bit the meaning of this result, please ?

Nmap Options: -F -T5 -sS xx.xx.xx.xx

Starting Nmap 4.75 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2011-04-03 10:38 Central Europe Daylight Time
Interesting ports on dynamic-adsl-xx-xx-xx-xx.clienti.tiscali.it (xx.xx.xx.xx):
Not shown: 93 closed ports
PORT STATE SERVICE
23/tcp filtered telnet
25/tcp filtered smtp
135/tcp filtered msrpc
139/tcp filtered netbios-ssn
179/tcp filtered bgp
445/tcp filtered microsoft-ds
1723/tcp open pptp

Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 2.15 seconds

Port 1723 is open ?
How can I closed it ?
In this moment that port, I guess, is used for my VPN connection when I'm outside of my network.
All the rest are filtered, so I believe are close from outside, isn't it ?

Thank for the answer/explanation.

There's no a second possibility to make a good first impression.
