I'm just curious.  Is their any attempts going on to try to get m0n0wall to run on Linksys hardware?  Google didn't show anything promising.

No. Most models don't have anywhere near enough RAM or Flash for m0n0wall, and FreeBSD doesn't run on those CPUs either.

If you are looking for a solution for a different firmware for linksys hardware take a look at DD_WRT project. I have set a few linksys wrt54g and wrt54gs with this firmware and is has a lot of features over the linksys firmware. http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/index.php
