Hello,

I’m experiencing some weird issue with my ADSL/Fixe-IP connection.
The problem seems to come from m0n0wall.

I have a Zyxel P600 in bridge mode and use m0n0wall to connect to my ISP (Bluewin.ch).

I’ve been using m0n0wall 1.233 (WRAP) since quite a long time with no problem.
I did not change anything in my network since quite a long time.
My m0n0wall setup didn’t change in the last year.

But now, for some unknown reason, my upload speed dropped to less then 30 Kbit/s.
I use m0n0wall especially for PPTP/VPN connections.

I made a speed test without m0n0wall :
- Zyxel connecting to my ISP
- one machine connected to the Zyxel
- RESULT: I have the full speed

Second test, usual setup :
- Zyxel in bridge mode
- m0wall connecting to my ISP
- one machine connected to m0n0wall
- RESULT: upload/download speed drops, especially the upload speed.

Any ideas that could help me?

Thanks a lot

Thomas

What hardware are you running m0n0wall on? Perhaps one of the NICs could be failing?

We have two wraps.
The one in production and the backup.
Both produce the same problem.

Thanks for help

I've had similar issues with an old FritzBox in bridge mode, but that was quite a long time ago.

Could you try a different ADSL modem? Additionally could you ring your ISP and ask them whether it might be something that they've changed in their network?

I am not sure why is this happening, however try 1492B MTU.
If this fails, and i suppose it will, try 1400B MTU, try lower values and see how this impacts the performance.
