Hi - I'm looking for pointers for a network setup I'm considering. From my research so far it looks like this is viable, but I'd welcome confirmation before going ahead.

I want to run a combination of networks and manage them using m0n0wall. I want two separate wired subnets and two wireless networks. I want to separate the networks using VLANs, but have one of the wireless networks be on the same subnet as one of the wired networks. Something like this:

Wired office network: 192.168.1.xxx
Wired tenant network: 192.168.2.xxx
Wireless office network: 192.168.1.xxx (so devices on this network can access the wired office network)
Wireless cafe network: 192.168.3.xxx

We have access to cheap Cisco kit through their charity program in the UK, so I'd like to use their 2500 series controller and 1600 series access points. I want the APs two have the two separate wifi networks, each separated by VLAN so that the wireless cafe network is segregated from the other networks, and uses m0n0wall's captive portal.

I will be using Cisco 2960 switches as well.

Can anyone with experience of something like this let me know whether this looks like a viable setup?

Think of your wifi as just another managed switch.

vlan 1 192.168.1.x
vlan 2 192.168.2.x
vlan 3 192.168.3.x

The WiFi will have vlans 1 and 3.  The switches will have vlans 1 and 2.

Ok, thanks. Now I just need to figure out how to get the Cisco Wireless kit to split everything into VLANs.

The vlan tags are usually with your ssid setup.
