Hi

My ISP just raised the speed on the fibre to 60Mbps/30Mbps.

However the M0n0wall I have installed on my LAN as firewall (ALIX.2D13, fw 1.32) PC Engine unit does not allow/function this speed but limits it to 40Mbps/30Mbps.

What to do?  Ideas?  Undecided

FIRMWARE:  Does firmware upgrade to 1.81 fix the situation?
Does firmware upgrade clear the local settings on current M0n0wall?

HARDWARE: Do I possibly need to buy new more enhanced core system board for pc-engine chassis?

SOFTWARE:  Or is this an issue which can be set/fix from the current software?

PC Engine ALIX.2D13 specs:  http://www.pcengines.ch/alix2d13.htm

Please advice as soon as possible.
Thanks.

It's possible that that hardware is not capable of handling that much thruput. Others with that hardware and as much or more bandwidth should be able to confirm this one way or another.

Other possibilities are:

VPN thruput can be lower than in the clear due to the computational effort required. Using crypto in the hardware can help.

If you have Traffic Shaping enabled, and it was properly set up for your old bandwidth, but not updated for the new faster connection, then you will be capped by the shaper. I had this happen to me once when changing ISPs.

Hi

Thanks.

I did upgrade my Alix with 1.34a + 1.81.
After this the speedtest gave result of 61Mbps/30Mbps.
So the firmware did the trick this time.
I believe this Alix.2D13 would handle the speed up to 85Mbps if so.

I'm glad you have it sorted out.
