I just noticed that a new generic-pc-serial-1.8.2b574.img was uploaded to the site to replace the one uploaded on 10/31/2014. The checksums do not match, so something is different between them.

Does anyone know what's different? And is it customary to replace files without increasing the build number?

Do you still have the old copy?  This is strange...  I posted to the dev list as well...

Yes, I have the old copy.

Not the first time this has happened either.

There was a problem with the automated build process, which caused the generated images to trigger a kernel panic on PC Engines APU boards and possibly others. That's why they got replaced when the build process was fixed.

(The problem was due to the BLOCKSIZE environment variable not being set when the build ran from cron, whereas it was always set when it was started manually from a login shell – a tricky one to figure out!)
