Hi,

I installed m0n0wall and everything is working fine, but the Data-LED of my ADSL-Modem flashes even
if there is no traffic. I use PPPoE to connect with a dynamic IP. Usally the LED flashes only if you cause
traffic by downloading something - since I have a m0n0wall router it flashes all the time. I know sofware on
computers can be quiet communicative (update software and so on), but even if I switch my computer off it
keeps flashing and I'm wondering what data is beeing sent during that time ... data packet problems fragments, errors ... Huh

Thank you in advance.

The traffic indicator lights on any cable or DSL modem I've ever seen have always blinked like crazy. Your firewall is up on the Internet and has a public IP, so it's going to get hit with basically constant incoming attacks or probes of some sort, potentially some backscatter from spoofed DDoS attacks, infected hosts on your ISP's network, etc.

There's a ton of noise on the Internet, that doesn't surprise me at all. It's almost certainly not indicative of a problem.
