i have monowall 1.231 running in a network with 68 users , my wan is adsl 2mb/s which means i can download 256kb/s i am in egypt and i take only 1/8 of teh speed in adsl , now monowall is configured to give in its captive portal 256kb/s to every user which means every user will download at 32 kb , howa can i see 30 users conencted and downloading , 30*32--->960 kb while my conenction is 256 , does monowall gives users sometimes unreal speed or how does it works?

M0n0wall can't create something out of nothing.

The 256mbit cap is a maximum -- no user will exceed that.  If you have more users than bandwidth, the bandwidth will just get divided between them up to the cap.  If 30 users are simultaneously downloading, I'd expect they'd each get about 8.5kbit/sec.
