I have a friend on dial-up internet connection. 

Is it possible to configure a old us robotics modem for dialup in monowall?

This is not possible via the gui, and I could not guess as to the feasibility of doing it otherwise.

Alternatively, if your friend just needs a good dialup firewall router and is willing to forgo monowall's nice web interface and extra functionality, then freesco.org would certainly fill the bill.
