Hello, I burned the ISO image of m0n0wall to a CD today and I installed it on my old PC with 2 Ethernet cards and so far the internet and all the computers connect. Well I was wondering why when I try to put m0n0wall on my external hard drive or my flash drive, It will not work. Like the console screen will come up and say "FATAL ERROR Could not find Config.xml, Press any key to restart" The CD works though, I don't want to always use the CD though to run mono. I would like it to at least be installed on one of my hard drives. Also I noticed my web browsing is a little slower, Could this be from me running m0n0wall from a CD? Anyways I got to go, thanks.

How are you installing the image on your hard drive and what type of flash memory are you trying to use?

I went by this windows install guide http://m0n0.ch/wall/installation_generic.php. I also tryed to install on my external hard drive just for testing 180 GB size and I tryed to install it on my PNY 2 GB flash drive.

I normally used the Windows physdiskwrite program with IDE drives or Transend modules and have had no problems using that scenario.  You might want try reseting your PC's CMOS to factory settings and then make sure Plug and Play OS is set to no or off.

BTW, will this PC boot Windows or DOS from that IDE drive?

You're not burning the CD iso image to your hard drive, right? There are different isos for CD and hdd/cf booting. Just checking.

Hello  ,
i got the same error by running at a via epia-v mainbord from CF card (32MB).
If i use a standard HD at the via board with the same immage it works fine.
The CF works in a hp brio without any problem.
At the via board the system starts up , but ended with
ad0 hard error reading fsbn 62560 of 0-3 (ad0 bn 62560; cn 488 tn 3 sn 0) status s=51 error =10
ad0: 30MB (32MB CHH) 489/4/32 at ata0-master PIO2

Any idea ?

woo! thanks for figuring that out. you saved me tons of time. i installed it on an 8mb cf card in this computer:

i decided it wasn't beefy enough to be a media center. it doesn't handle hd content very well. i had been wanting to give m0n0wall a try, and it seemed like the perfect machine for it.
